1. Have you ever been on TV?
Yes, I believe so. I was a student activist in college and participated in a lot of rallies that were covered on the evening news. I don't believe I'm telegenic, though. ^^

2. Have you ever sung in public?
A couple of times, during parties and videoke stints. Guts! Guts! :P

3. Have you ever dyed your hair blond?
Nah. I wouldn't dare in this lifetime. Lol

4. Have you ever eaten frogs' legs?
Yes, when I was still a kid. Interesting, because it tastes like chicken meat. ( I can almost hear Chestene saying "Ewwwww! Gross!")

5. Have you ever received a present that you really hated?
No. I love receiving all kinds of gifts. For me, it's always the thought that counts.

6. Have you ever walked into a lamp post? Not yet!

7. Have you ever cooked a meal by yourself for more than 15 people?
Whenever I cook, the dish usually feeds around that much. Except when they get a second serving, which usually happens. ;P

8. Have you ever fallen or stumbled in front of others?
I can't remember, but maybe when I was still a kid.

9. Have you ever done volunteer work?
When I was in college, I taught orphans and abused children under the care of the Tertiary Capuchin Sisters.

But the young mother was happy,
and she would not believe

So she played with her children,

Birthday Minnie

I haven’t been around for a while.

Basically, I’m trying to achieve some normalcy in my offline life when I took a little leave online. I’ve been an overflowing bag of mixed emotions lately and I’m trying to sort things out one step at a time. Yeah, some last quarter of the year drama, huh.

But let’s not get into that.

Today has been a tiring day. The Little Lady went to Girl Scout Camp in school, so we both woke up early on a Saturday morning. I left her in the school gym at 8:00 am; took breakfast at Wendy’s while waiting for the malls to open; did a little shopping for Christmas presents and art materials for both the Little Lady and I; picked up something at the printing shop; fetched her at 3:00 pm and grabbed some snacks at McDonald’s before finally heading home.

Around the same time last year, I’m almost finished with my Christmas shopping. But this year, my hoarding skills have been put to rest and I wonder why I seemed to have lost the zest for early shopping.

Hard times? Not really. I can always find an expensive looking present for a quarter of the price. It’s a gift that I believe I’m born with. :) So I guess this still points to the last quarter of the year drama. Oh, well...

Apart from whiling my time away at the mall, I was also there to get my pretty little niece, Gia, a gift for her 2nd birthday. It’s her birthday today, but she’ll be having a party tomorrow at Jollibee.

Yesterday, I made her this rush birthday Minnie Mouse tarpaulin that I'd like to share for Scrapbook Saturday (although this is not technically a scrap page, but I already missed 2 Saturdays! Sorry guys!):

7 Random Facts About Me:

1. Whenever I go to one of my favorite malls, my trip is never complete without eating spicy Jamaican beef pie and Takoyaki (Japanese octopus/squid and veggie balls) in the food court.

2. I always have around 4 pens and a notebook inside my bag. I just can't live without them.

3. I seldom delegate. I'd rather do things myself than have to redo somebody's work that I could have done right the first time.

4. I don't care about what others think of me. I don't lose sleep over other people's opinion of who I am.

5. I love my daughter to bits. I think this fact is quite obvious! lol

6. If given the chance, I'd rather be a stay-at-home working mom.

7. I am loyal, patient and persevering; but sometimes, to a fault.

The Best Gift Ever

A young man was getting ready to graduate from college. For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's showroom and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted. As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car.

Finally, on the morning of his graduation his father called him into his private study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautiful wrapped gift box. Curious, but somewhat disappointed, the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible, with the young man's name embossed in gold.

Angrily, he raised his voice to his father and said, "With all your money you give me a Bible?" And stormed out of the house, leaving the Bible.

Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his father was very old and thought perhaps he should go to him. He had not seen him since that graduation day.

Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He needed to come home immediately and take care of things. When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart.

He began to search through his father's important papers and saw the still new Bible, just as he had left it years ago. With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. His father had carefully underlined a verse, Matt 7:11,

"And if ye, being evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Heavenly Father which is in heaven, give to those who ask Him?"

As he read those words, a car key dropped from the back of the Bible. It had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words... PAID IN FULL.

How many times do we miss God's blessing because they are not packaged as we expected? I trust you enjoyed this. Pass it on to others. Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; but remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for...

Sharing the Love

I received this very special award Sharing the Love from Hailey. I feel honored to receive this. :)

This award is extra special because Crystal created it in honor of the donor who saved her son's life. Her son Noah had to have a heart transplant when he was just over a month old. This award is supposed to help raise awareness of the importance of organ donation.

So, here are the rules Crystal gave:

- A financial windfall next year would be great!

- Nah. I only wear them with rubber shoes, which happens once in a blue moon. Like when we played badminton last week.

5. How did you spend your summer?

- No fancy vacation or sunbathing. Spent it on working, blogging, malling, McDonald's Kiddie Crew and fulfilling requirements for my little lady's new school.

6. Have you been to the cinema in the last 5 days?
- Last week I watched Indiana Jones.

7. What was the last thing you had to drink? - Coffee!

8. What are you wearing right now? - Too sexy to divulge! :P

9. What was your last purchase? - McDonald's Happy Meal for you know who.

- Spicy squid flakes, beef steak, spicy Thai Tamarind.

11. Who would be the person you would call if you were up in the middle of the night and couldn’t sleep? - Nobody.

12. Have you bought any clothing items in the last week? - No.

13. Do you have a pet? - 4 doggies in the house, plus a few cats.

- The little lady saying, "Mom, videos are nonsense. Why don't you watch the news or something?" (She's watching cartoons that time and I'm talking her into popping a DVD movie in the player. Hehehe).

- In the arms of someone special.

16. What is the last thing you purchased online? - None.

17. One thing you hate about yourself? - Nothing that I could think of.

18. Do you miss anyone? - Yeah.

- Oh, I have two meetings scheduled for today. Boring!

- It's always been the words.

2. What’s your favorite kind of cake?
- Strawberry cheesecake and Ube Macapuno cake.

3. Do you ever make gifts for people, if so what, or do you buy them?
- I do personalized photo layouts and digital storybooks for special occasions. But I also buy (well, hoard!) gifts. I buy fab finds whenever there's a sale and keep it for future use. :)

4. What’s your favorite holiday? - Christmas and New Year.

5. Are you going on holiday this year? - Probably next year.

6. What was the best party you’ve ever been to?
- The little lady's 1st to 6th birthday parties.

7. If you are married, describe your wedding. If not, what would your ideal wedding be like.

- I like a themed wedding. Not so fancy or grand, but definitely stylish. It has to be solemn, with only family and close friends. I don't like the usual traditional dragging reception program. I'll think of something fun! :)

- Someone flew from another country just to see me.

- Of course the little lady's name - Chestene Ysadel
